Words in the unseen realm

By Sidharth Mohandas

During the early years of my Christian walk, my mother and I used to go for worship every Sunday to a gathering that was around 50 miles away from our home. I remember one particular day we decided to go in the general compartment [For those who don’t know, the general compartment is the non-reservation compartment in the Indian trains]. The compartment was packed so much that I had to stand on one leg. Those were the days we were taught to thank God and praise Him no matter what circumstance we were in.

My mother was far away from me where the ladies were. I started thanking God during that one and half hour journey. By the time we reached our destiny, my leg was aching badly, and I was limping a bit. Before I told my mom what I did, she told me she was thanking God throughout the journey as well. We attended the service, and by around 3 in the afternoon, we got into the train to get back home. I remember that evening when we got home, I immediately went to my room opened the Bible and started speaking the Word of God over my body. To my surprise the pain on my leg vanished instantly!

This reminds me of something that the Lord said to the Jews who had believed in Him:

If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free. [John 8:31-32, AMP]

Hold fast to His word; continue in it even when you don’t see an immediate result. Words carry power in the spiritual realm. There’s a battle, and there are weapons for warfare: our words. Your words decide whether you win or lose. Angelic beings wait for God’s word to fall out of your tongue to accomplish it, at the same time the forces of darkness wait for words of destruction to fall out of your tongue. No wonder God’s word tells us that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]” [Proverbs 18:21, AMP]
