Some years back I had visited a friend of mine and as I listened to him expound the Scriptures I was awed at the revelation he had. But after we parted I developed a sense of worthlessness. I compared my gift of teaching with his and felt a bit down. I was walking from his home back to my room and the Lord directed my attention to the stars in the sky and started speaking to me. His words had real gravity in them. I believe this prophetic word I received from the Lord will encourage those of you who struggle with the same. Here it is:
“One star in the sky may shine brighter than the other- but I have positioned each star in its place, and each star is part of a constellation- and so thus says the Lord, do not compare your gifting with another. If one star in a constellation was missing, it would make the scientists in the world to run. I hold the stars by My Word, and so do I hold you by My Word, says the Lord”
Wow. That was an awesome word!
Recently I did a topical study on Evangelism. During the course of my study I discovered much information on the individuality of our gifts. I love the fact the althoug we are one in the body, we are still yet very much unique!
Be thankful for people whose gifts are different than yours. Let your strengths balance their weaknesses, and be grateful that their abilities make up for your deficiencies.
Great post. Thank you!
I think that’s human nature. we all feel inadequate and need affirmation. Sometimes we want to be something we’re not and we struggle. Wonderfully encouraging words Sidarth!
