Lack of peace is seen all around, even Christians spend a lot of time being anxious and worrying. There are those who’d give anything to receive peace. If we were asked to speak about God’s peace we’d have a lot to speak about it, but when it comes to practical living many of us start making excuses like “After all I’m just human”. It is really sad to see Christians claiming that God offers eternal peace and then to see them act as though what they said was just something made up.
What is the key to living in peace?
The Lord directed me to 2 Peter 1:2, which says:
Grace and PEACE be yours in abundance through the KNOWLEDGE of God and of Jesus our Lord.
The peace that you can partake of is in proportion to the knowledge you have of God. In other words, what occupies your mind when you face trials determines the peace you can have.
Paul instructs the believers at Philippi :
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. [Philippians 4:8-9]
What do you think when you suddenly realize that your salary for the month has gotten over by the middle of the month? Is it: “I have to pay the phone bill, the electricity bill, how will I pay all these now?”. Or will you train your mind to think of instances where God has faithfully looked after you in the past? Look for areas where He deserves to be admired, look for lovely times when He used His humor to make you smile in the midst of trouble?
A while back my mother was facing a financial crisis and she asked me to pray about it. I looked around and spotted a cheque book lying on the table. So I took it, wrote the amount column as “unlimited” and signed it in Jesus name. My mother saw it and smiled at me. In 2 minutes time she received an amount totally out of the blue, she looked at me and said, “Sidhu, the amount has started showing up”. She did face times where she had to discipline her mind to think according to the Word and then she’d be walking around singing songs of praise, fully at peace. She was anchored in a reality that surpassed the natural.
While I was writing this post the Lord showed me a ship in the midst of the sea. The ship was absolutely calm and stable. I wondered why it did not get tossed by the waves…just then the Lord spoke and said, “The ship is anchored, that is why it is at peace”. How much are we anchored in Christ and in what He has spoken? Will a wave steal our peace?
Scripture plainly tells us:
You will keep him in PERFECT PEACE, him whose mind is stayed on You: because he trusts in You [Isaiah 26:3]
Yes, perfect peace is what is yours and mine, and the key is to cause your mind to stay on Him.

Bringing EVERY thought captive to the obedience of Christ is the key to peace for me along with casting down imaginations that seek to exalt themselves over Christ. Jesus is truly my anchor and rock. All other ground is sinking sand. Thank you for this excellent reminder. Great photo.
