For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)
Now this is a very familiar verse to most of us; however, very few have learned to apply it to our day-to-day life. We are so accustomed to dealing with things in the natural, that we fail to realize that the root of all things is found in the spiritual.
A long time back, I remember pulling out some weeds in our garden and I thought that it was end of the story, but two days later I found out that the weeds were back and thriving! I realized that when I pulled out the weed, I had just pulled out that which was visible to my eyes, but the root from where the weed came remained untouched.
Have you seen people raise up banners protesting against the conduct of homosexuality, child abuse and abortion? Have you heard people speak ill of the Government and their reign? Do you know what they are doing? Like me, they are trying to deal with it at seen, temporal symptoms rather than the unseen cause. Remember, what is seen comes from that which is unseen. This is why Scripture exhorts us to deal with the unseen spiritual realm with spiritual weapons and not flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12, II Corinthians 10:3-5 ).
If you have read the entire chapter of Ephesians 6, you will see Paul instructing the believers to put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), and after specifying each part of the armor, he tells them to actively do two things: firstly to use the sword of the Spirit which is the spoken word of God (Greek: Rhema; Ephesians 6:17) or the word of God taken on our tongues [the only offensive part of the armor, the rest are all defensive] and secondly to pray (Ephesians 6:18).
Are you facing a battle in the physical? Stop struggling with carnal and fleshly weapons. Look beyond the physical into the spiritual… see your adversary and his plot to destroy God’s purposes in your life. You know your weapons of warfare. Now, use it! War with words from His Presence, war with authority that can be unleashed through prayer! And once the root is dealt with, the fruit will eventually disappear. HalleluYAH!

I thought I was going to leave this for later but I can’t the Miracle I was talking about happened just now.
My immediate younger brother has been ill for a week now and I hadn’t gone to see him. he had not been able to walk or even have his bath for days due to a swollen groin and it was so painful for him. as I was about climbing up the stairs to my mums room the Holy Spirit said “check on him” cos his room is by the staircase I entered and behold saw him his legs spread out wide and he couldn’t even get up to visit the toilet and again the holy Spirit said “Pray for him and anoint him with oil” I obeyed and he was reluctant when he saw me with the oil, he said… just put small, I don’t want it but I ignored him and pray to the Lord my God that answers by Fire, then poured the oil and went upstairs only for me to be called an hour later that I please come downstairs that the pus has started coming out before I got there he was sitting on a chair in his room, immediately he saw me he said… you are to much! I said shut up God did it for you, everything is Jesus and the Holy Ghost you must give Him all the Glory and he said he had and he will continue to thank God. now He showed me a bottle and told me that it was surprising to him that as soon as the oil was poured on him t was like it burst right then but after sometime the odour as coming out from him and he checked… behold pus and blood flowing like a tap of water and he ran to the toilet and cleaned himself up about half a litre of fluid came out of him. I just started worshiping God and crying to Lord for His mercies.
I will post this on my blog later today when am through with work and my little sis 25th Birthday today
I need more faith like this. I do think that is OK if the cause is spiritual but some things are in the physical, emotional etc. and need practical solutions.

Hi Sidharth, I commented on this post though it was written in december last year because spiritual battle was a topic I was reflecting about recently as I commit to pray 2 times a day for different groups of people including myself since jan 12 08. The results are palpable, I could see myself more sensitive to my own sins, focused on God’s kingdom, family’s relationships improved but also the temptations and obstacles to pray also escalate as the days go by. I could really say that the battles in the spiritual realm through prayers are so real! I am inquisitive still how to use the word of God as an offensive weapon for spiritual battle. I saw some of your posts on that and will read up on them. Thank you for your sharing.
Roots, Roots, Roots!
The physical world is controlled by the spiritual world. That is why when Satan rebelled from heaven, the effect of his rebellion flowed through to the earth causing a mess that drowned the dinosaurs to extinction.
If they is order in the spiritual world in relation to your life, there will be order in the physical world too.
