Have Dominion…

By Sidharth Mohandas

The Kingdom of God is a very interesting topic, and also an important one! Especially if we want to operate in the way God has designed us to operate.

Now in a kingdom, while the King is alive, the prince cannot be made King until his Dad dies. However, according to the rules of the Kingdom, there is a possibility for the prince to be the King while his Dad is alive. This is in the case that he is sent by the King to another land in order to rule over it, or have dominion over it.

We must realize that our eternal spirits were with God (and in God) before He released us into earthen vessels. In other words, before we were revealed in our bodies, we were hidden in Him. We were in His Kingdom (the Kingdom of heaven) where God’s perfect will comes to pass. And sharing His dominion, He made earthen bodies for us and released us into the earth. And He said, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” [Genesis 1:26]

God created us to have dominion, to be rulers, to reign on another “land” called the Earth. His purpose was for man to bring His Kingdom upon earth. And as man walked on planet earth, the trees, the birds and the cattle looked upon him and said, “Look! The glory of God!” God put upon man His glory and asked them to replenish the earth, covering the earth with His glory. However, after man sinned and fell short of God’s glory [Romans 3:23], all of creation began to cry out saying, “Where is the glory of the Lord? Where are the children of glory?”. Creation craves to see God’s glory again.

The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. [Romans 8:19]

Now let me remind you again: God’s plan for us in the Kingdom is to have dominion over the earth. Not dominion over people; but dominion over the earth and every living thing that creeps on it. In other words, He wants His will on earth as it is in heaven!

Are we as believers operating as we have been designed to operate or are we living weak lives being overcome by problems? Are we bringing God’s Kingdom into our home, our schools, our work places…? The message of God to us: “Have Dominion…”

Sidharth, I wonder, do you subscribe to the theory of Dominion Theology?
