Precious ones of God, as I was in the Presence of the Lord a while back, I heard a call of the Spirit…a call to come and drink. In my spirit I saw the Samaritan woman. I saw the Samaritan woman being asked by Jesus…“Will you give me a drink?” [John 4:7]. I knew within my spirit that He did not ask for a drink to quench His thirst, but He asked her for water so that He could invite her to drink of Himself. The woman like many of us processed her thoughts on the natural. Her mind was focused on her earthly needs….like us: “my finances…”, “my children…”, “my job….”, “my ministry….”, “my future…”…
Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.
However, Jesus was not calling her to fulfill her earthly needs, but was calling her beyond that to partake of Himself. He was telling her that HE HIMSELF was her greatest need. And when she’d have Him, she’d have the Provider, she’d have the Healer, she’d have the Comforter, she’d have the Counselor, she’d have the Shepherd…she would never be in want. My friends, your need isn’t your finances being met, or your sickness being healed, or your need for direction. What you and I need is more of Him in our lives.
Majority of the mails I receive for prayer from the prayer request column are: Pray that God meets my finances, Pray that my marriage is restored, Pray that God will give me a job, Pray that I do well in my exams…
In all of these cases, my answer was so simple that people could have stumbled over it: seek FOR HIM and seek for MORE of HIM.
ONE THING I ask of the LORD, THIS IS WHAT I SEEK: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. [Psalm 27:4]

We had many words of prophecy in our church last Sunday along these lines. We seek so much from other places and one thing is needed. Jesus. Thank you Sidarth.
Another great post, Sidhu. Thank you for once again reminding all of us what our focus should be, instead of worldly worries.
Shalom!
I’m ashamed to admit that I have to be reminded of this quite often.
Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you.
Sid, this is the title of my favourite song, ‘One Thing’ (as you know!). And I think you have put it sooo well…

Wow. This is so true. “Is anyone thirsty???”– the famous question that Jesus shouted out, referring to the dissatifaction within us because of many unfulfilled deep longings in our soul…so, it works out good to be empty and thirsty, yeah? It’s good to notice our inability to find worldly satisfaction. And then He promises He can fill our empty cavities…fill us Lord with Your living water!! Fill us we ask!
