In our first message we dealt with what we do with ourselves during fasting. In this message we shall deal with what God does with us during fasting.
“In those days he did eat nothing (…) Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit” Luke 4:2,14
In the River Jordan, Christ’s Ministry had its seal broken. When he prayed, the Holy Spirit came upon Him. Subsequently, the “Holy Spirit guided Him into the desert”, where He fasted for forty days and forty nights. When He came back, he “returned in the power of the Spirit”.
Why was Christ taken into the desert? “To be tempted”? (Matthew 4:1) Or was there a purpose in Him being tempted? Every temptation is a trial. Christ had fasted, and meditated on Scripture for forty days. This is where He learnt to take control over His flesh and His soul; this is where He became apt to Reign over His human nature. The Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness so that He could be tested and approved.
The temptation was used as a test so that He could show Himself, Heaven, and even Hell that He was free to govern through God. Once He was approved, the Holy Spirit said, “Now you are ready to receive the power to Reign”.
This is where the Father’s Spirit’s will, the Holy Spirit’s will and the Son’s Spirit’s will were all aligned, and we must align our spirit’s will to theirs –through fasting; and we shall Reign forever!
What is power? What is dunamis (Gk.)? Power is the freedom to act according to your will; but you have been given this power because your will is now God’s will. Power is the authorization to have dominion.
Why are you given power through fasting? You are given power because you manage to govern, and dominate over your flesh through the process of fasting. Thus, you are given an upgrade in your spiritual domain, and now have domain over the spirit realm.
This is why Christ said that certain demons will only come out with prayer and fasting; they are of a certain hierarchy, and to govern over them, we must upgrade our own hierarchy.
How am I supposed to expel a demon in my finances, if I cannot dominate my flesh into tithing? How am I supposed to expel a demon in anyone’s sexuality, if I cannot dominate over my eyes watching pornography? How is anyone going to have domain over a spiritual realm if he or she cannot even govern over the equivalent natural area?
Fasting is the Power of Kings; it is where we establish, govern, and determine the size of our Kingdom.
Govern over your flesh in as many areas as you can, and God will give you the Keys to govern the Heavens in the very same areas. Be cautious of the trials, and you will be approved and given power and domain.
Fasting is a weapon of war that can be used to gain dominion/authority over everything. Once you gain dominion, power is automatically poured into your life. However, keep in mind that this is all to establish The Kingdom; in other words, God’s Will.
Be Kings. Be Queens. Establish His Kingdom.

What a revelation! Thank you God for the liberating Truth You send Your children, training them in Your ways.
Eventhough I fast on a regular basis, there were areas of ambiguities in my understanding of it. There’s more clarity now: more assurance and confidence as when you know when you are on the right path leading to your true destination.
