Have Dominion…

By Sidharth Mohandas

The Kingdom of God is a very interesting topic and also an important one if we want to operate in the way God has designed us to operate.

Now in a kingdom, while the King is alive, his son who is the prince cannot be King until his dad dies. However, according to Kingdom Rules, there is a possibility for the prince to be the King while his dad is alive and that is if he is sent to another land to have dominion over it.

We must realize that our eternal spirits were with God and in God before He released us from Him into earthen vessels. In other words, before we were revealed in the body, we were hidden in Him. We were in His Kingdom called the Kingdom of heaven, where God’s perfect will came to pass. However, since He wanted us to share in His dominion, He made earthen bodies for us and released us in them. And He said, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” [Genesis 1: 26]

God created us to have dominion, to be rulers, to reign on another “land” called the Earth. His purpose was to make man bring His Kingdom upon earth. As man walked on planet earth, the trees, the birds and the cattle looked upon him and said, “Look! The glory of God!” God put upon man His glory and asked them to replenish the earth so that they would cover the earth with His glory. But ever since man sinned and fell short of God’s glory [Romans 3: 23], they groan in pain crying, “Where is the glory of the Lord? Where are the children of glory?”. Creation craves to see God’s glory again.

The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. [Romans 8: 19]

Now let me remind you again, God’s plan for us in the Kingdom is to have dominion over the earth. Not dominion over people, dominion over the earth and every living thing that creeps on it. In other words, He wants His will on earth as it is in heaven.

Are we as believers operating as we have been designed to operate or are we living weak lives being overcome by problems? Are we bringing God’s Kingdom in our home, our schools, our work places…? The message of God to us: “Have Dominion…”

None will sit on the throne of David!

By Sidharth Mohandas

According to God’s prophetic word that came through Balaam we realize that “a ruler would come out of Jacob” [Numbers 24: 19]. We are also told that this King would come out of David’s line and that His reign would be eternal. We all know that this King and ruler is none other than Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah.

Now, David’s throne was promised to Solomon, but somewhere down along the line from Solomon something happens that makes it look as though there would be no more heirs to this throne. This judgment came to a King by the name Jehoiachin, the son of Jehoiakim.

This is what the Lord says:“Record this man as childless, a man who will not prosper in his lifetime, for none of his offspring will prosper, none will sit on the throne of David or rule anymore in Judah” [Jeremiah 22:30]

What a strong judgment and an irreversible one! However, the Scripture records this man’s name in Jesus’ Genealogy: “and Josiah begets Jehoiachin…” [Matthew 1:11; Josiah was Jehoiachins grand father]. Then how is it possible that Jesus became an heir to the throne, if God said none of Jehoiachins offspring would sit on David’s throne?

Here’s the paradox: The throne has to come through David, but according to the word of the Lord it should not be through Jehoiachin, and yet we see Jehoiachins name in the Genealogy in the first chapter of Matthew.

I brought you till here to make you think… Before it dawns on you, have you ever compared the genealogies given in Matthew 1 and Luke 3? You’ll find that these genealogies are different and yet they are given as the genealogy of Joseph. I think I got you thinking again…For them that do not know, Luke 3 is not Joseph’s genealogy but is Mary’s genealogy. Now how is that? Well, you’ll have to be Jewish to understand that: according to their tradition they never mention the genealogies of women. And if they do, they are mentioned after their husband’s name. I’m sure the picture gets clear here. Jesus became the heir of the David’s throne through another of David’s son by the name Nathan, from whom Mary descended. And since Jesus was born to Mary and not to Joseph, he was rightfully an heir to the throne. God in His wisdom brought Jesus to the throne without having him go through Jehoiachin, but then being the first born to Joseph’s wife, he was also an heir to the promised throne that was passed down from David to Solomon.

From "Bless me" to "Bless the Lord"

By Sidharth Mohandas

I thank God that His Word has eternal revelations that will cause us to stand in awe of Him. Around three or four months back I had a dream of a pregnant lady crying out and singing, “Send Revival! Send Revival!”, after this I saw a wall break open with a fresh river gushing out. The explanation the Lord gave me was: “Travail in prayer as a woman in pains of child birth”. He spoke to me through many verses [Romans 8:26; Romans 15:30], but the one that moved me the most was where Jesus agonized in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane before His trial. The following days and weeks I remember the Holy Spirit doing exactly what He spoke to me- He was agonizing and groaning through me. Though the burden was heavy, I felt good as I knew He was trusting me with His grief. I remember one time where He was groaning through me… because of the heaviness of His presence I fell flat on the ground. The Lord immediately started speaking to me prophetically. Since He spoke after the groaning- I knew His message was one that was born out of great anguish. He first spoke on how He wanted His people to pursue holiness and the second was on prayer. Though the message came a while back- I am prompted by His Spirit to share the message on prayer again. Here’s the second half of prophetic message I received from the Lord:

“I Am not able to pour out Myself through weak prayers; I Am not able to pour out Myself through empty prayers; I Am not able to pour out Myself through prayers that do not touch My heart, saith the Lord”

My mom told me two days back “Our prayers shouldn’t be focused on our needs, but on bringing God’s kingdom in our midst”. This is exactly what the Lord is speaking to me and I believe this is His message to all those who will read this. Let me take you to the early Church and show you how we need to change our way of praying.

I take you to Acts 4: 24-30:

And when they heard that they lifted up their voices together to God , and said, “Lord, You are God, which has made heaven, earth and sea and all that is in them: Who by the mouth of Your servant David has said, ‘Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? The kings of the earth stood up and the rulers were gathered against the Lord and against His Christ’. For of a truth against Your holy Child Jesus whom You have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever Your hand and Your counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, consider their threats: and grant Your servants that with all boldness they speak Your Word, by stretching forth Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy Child Jesus”

Prior to this we find the Jewish priests threatening these believers not to speak in the name of Jesus. I want you to look closely to their response. Read their response a number of times… Did you notice that in this 6 verse prayer, in only half a verse do they bring up their need before God? ” Lord, consider their threats…” That’s it! They were bent on bringing God’s will and His kingdom to that situation. The Holy Spirit asked me a while back, “Did I ever ask you children to seek Me for your needs?”. I say again, seek to bring His kingdom, rather than seeking to fulfill your needs. Look at the focus of the disciples: they prayed, “Grant us boldness to speak Your Word!”. They were mission-oriented. I look around and find Christians picnic-oriented! Believers, do you see how we need to change our focus in prayer?

Shibu asked me to write on the oneness of purpose of the believers in prayer. I want to point here that in the “Lord’s prayer” [which is not actually the Lord's prayer but the disciples' prayer], Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, it’s interesting He uses the words “OUR Father”, “Give US “, “Forgive US” rather than “MY Father”, “Give ME”, “Forgive ME”. This oneness in purpose is so important. Did you notice in the passage above the Bible says that “they raised their voices TOGETHER to God”? Can we get back to the pattern that Jesus is showing us?

We need to grow out of the “bless me” prayers to “Thy Kingdom come” prayers. No wonder God calls our prayers “weak” and “empty”.

When we align our prayers with the purpose of expanding His kingdom on earth, God’s heart is moved and He pours out His presence into the area of need.
