The Word of God

As Christians, it is important for us to understand one basic principle. This principle is illustrated in 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

“All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

Without this basic understanding, there is no chance of maturing as a Christian. We must understand that the word is not just a set of nice little stories, but rather a set of blueprints of how we are to live. The word of God is our standard for life.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

There is no part of the word of God that is no longer for today. Every scripture has a purpose and season for every situation. It is because of this that the word of God is used as the final authority.

James 1:22

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

As we progress deeper into the depths of God, I ask that you do not take what is said lightly. I pray that everything that is written here from here out will have a lasting effect on you. As we uncover deeper revelations of who God is, I challenge you to ask yourself what God wants to reveal in your own life, and I ask that you take everything that is written here on out and examine against the final authority in all matters. The word of God.

Tassels to touch…

 By Sidharth Mohandas

I’m sure most of you know that I was a cancer patient and that I had a tumor on my right shoulder that was operated and removed. Though the Lord healed me, I was unable to lift my right arm above my shoulder, probably because the muscles in that area were removed. For years I carried this disability in my body, unable to even lift my hands to worship the Lord. However, I must confess that I never prayed about it as it had become so much a part of me.

Some years back when a man of God came down from the States to conduct a crusade, I had volunteered in his meetings as a prayer warrior. In one of those services he encouraged each of us to touch Jesus in faith like the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment in the Bible and to receive wholeness from the Lord. He said, “Scripture tells us, ‘Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved’. If you are a ‘whosoever’ call on His name and be delivered“. I was worshipping the Lord with my left hand lifted up [right hand lifted less than half way with great difficulty], and then suddenly I felt a warm and gentle wind twirl around my right arm. I thought to myself, “Could He have touched my arm?” and before I could finish thinking my hand was up all the way, and it was all tingling! Glory to God!

In the older covenant, the Lord gave the Jews a commandment: ‘Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel. You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the LORD…[Numbers 15:38-39]

The Israelites were to make tassels at the corners of their garment, and these represented the Word of God. There is an interesting truth about the woman being healed by touching the hem of Jesus’ garment.

Scripture says: [she] came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. [Luke 8:44]

Do you know what Greek word Luke used for the word “fringe” in the above verse? It’s the word “kraspedon“, which is the same word for “tassel”.

Beloved, I strongly urge you to find a place to touch in the Word of God, a promise He has given that will help you release your faith in Him. Be encouraged by my testimony and seek Him for your wholeness. Not just healing for your body, but wholeness for the whole you. Remember, in doing so our focus should always be the flourishing of the kingdom of God. We want His kingdom to function how Abba intended it to function. When Jesus healed the sick and cast out demons, He said “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you”. Will you believe for the kingdom of God to come upon you?

Make it your goal today to be a kingdom-expander. Mind you, when this becomes your goal Satan will use religious people to oppose you, but do not be hindered, you’re far beyond religion, you’re a royal citizen!

What’s your attitude?

By Titto Thomas

Philippians 2: 5 “Have the same attitude among yourselves that was also in Christ Jesus”

This phrase “Have the same attitude” primarily denotes a state of mind. Some translations put it as “ let this mind”. But let us focus on this word attitude. I recently discovered a wonderful analogy to help understand this word.

The word “Attitude” is commonly used in aerospace and there it simply means “Pointing in the right direction”. I think the most critical is during landing, wherein to be of the wrong attitude when you are approaching the runway means this- while the nose of the plane is pointed towards the runway, the tail is not!

Basically when the pilot is looking out of the cockpit, he can see the runway straight ahead but there is a high possibility that the tail is pointed in some other direction. The result…The flight could offshoot the runway or maybe even land sideways.

Now let’s compare that picture in our Christian life…while your mind maybe pointed at the runway, your heart could be offset. There are so many practical issues where we need the right attitude. Now what is the right attitude, it is the attitude of Jesus Christ! We need to see our need for having the right attitude towards issues like faith, relations, work/study, money, church…etc. We need to even have the proper attitude towards the Word!

I was at a camp last month and an elder in our church called all ‘us youth’ for a group discussion on ‘work’. Before I started to work I had searched scriptures on what it says about work but I was surprised by what I heard. I had a lot of repenting to do afterwards! One of the most important ways in which we can have the right attitude is to study it properly. I encourage you to spend time alone and with friends studying, discussing and sharing on what the bible talks about day to day things you handle. For eg. Time, money, relations, work/study etc.

We can’t afford to have a torn garment knowledge about the word and what it has to say about practical things in life. Our hearts, minds and body need the proper orientation and what better way THAN THE WORD!!
